Erpingham with Calthorpe WI Village Walking Map Event 2nd September 2017 10am to 4pm

The cakes were baked, the super new maps designed and printed, the needlework project was planned and the history group had pulled together a fantastic display and a booklet on local history. The sun came out and Friends of Thwaite Common escorted walks around that interesting conservation area.
Our quiz was a hit with the families who attended and we all enjoyed learning more about the area from the materials on display, but even more so from the people who popped in to talk… to us and to each other. It was a good day in the village.
Now we have an up to date map of the walks around our villages, (available from the WI) the beginning of history group that hope to conserve some of the wonderful information and items we are discovering and a growing list of needlewomen to contribute to the Map Embroidery over the next year.
Members of Erpingham with Calthorpe WI really enjoyed hosting this event, although we are somewhat exhausted after all our efforts; those cakes do not bake themselves you know. Thanks to all who contributed, including the members of the Erpingham Manor Project, and our friends and supporters who gave their support, their time and their memories.
